short breaks away
There’s so much to do for families around Earby Hostel and Waterfall Cottage.
There’s Thornton Country Park just over the hill, a farm park with plenty of animals to see, quad bike riding, pony rides, special seasonal events, a café, playground and a fun indoor play area.
If you’re looking for something a bit more adventurous then take a short trip to Skipton where you can try your hand at tree climbing with Raven Tree Top Adventure. They’re right next to the swimming pool that has giant inflatables during the weekend.
Skipton is also home to one of the best-preserved medieval castles in the country, always worth a visit.
Bolton Abbey is a great day out, with riverside walks, the Welly Walk with different activities and obstacles, a family bike area for little ones to practice, a lovely cafe at The Cavendish Pavilion, tea rooms at Strid Wood and plenty of swimming to be had in warmer months at The Priory.
Over the border you can spend a day in Clitheroe, with a trip to the castle, a play in the playground and then a bite to eat at Holmes Mill.
If you’re a family who loves the outdoors, take a walk along the Pennine Way or cycle some of the Tour De Yorkshire route.
THORNTON HALL COUNTRY PARKhttps://www.thorntonhallcountrypark.co.uk/ “Experience hands on animal encounters on our traditional working farm, hitch a ride in our 4 x 4 Adventure Experience and relax in our country tearoom while the little ones burn off the remainder of their energy in our huge fun filled Wizzick Play Barn… a fun filled, informative family day out, RAIN OR SHINE!”

HESKETH FARM PARK
One of the region’s most popular visitor attractions. This working farm has diversified to become an open farm with a huge amount of interactive animal sessions such as guinea pig brushing, lamb and calf feeding, egg collecting and donkey brushing. There’s loads for kids to do inside and out, and you can take your own picnic!
BILLY BOB’S PARLOUR
Billy Bob’s is an American style diner with a great men; think fluffy pancakes, waffles, hot dogs and BBQ. The ice cream parlour has tons of flavours and there’s a large outdoor play area and play barns which are covered. If you’re an adults-only group then enjoy your meal in the 13+ restaurant.
craven leisure swimming pool inflatables
Every weekend and more often during the school holidays, a huge inflatable assault course lands in Craven Swimming Pool. So much fun for the kids and adults too!
Bolton Abbey Family Cycle Zone
Join us this year to experience some new additions to our cycle zone! The original grass cycle track will still be in place with a couple of new additions to enjoy.
Situated adjacent to the Village car park, this space offers a safe area for children to learn and practice their cycling skills. With roads cut through the grass and road signs to mark the way, children can enjoy endless fun maneuvering the roundabout and junctions!
