short breaks away

There’s so much to do for families around Earby Hostel and Waterfall Cottage.

There’s Thornton Country Park just over the hill, a farm park with plenty of animals to see, quad bike riding, pony rides, special seasonal events, a café, playground and a fun indoor play area.

If you’re looking for something a bit more adventurous then take a short trip to Skipton where you can try your hand at tree climbing with Raven Tree Top Adventure. They’re right next to the swimming pool that has giant inflatables during the weekend.

Skipton is also home to one of the best-preserved medieval castles in the country, always worth a visit.

Bolton Abbey is a great day out, with riverside walks, the Welly Walk with different activities and obstacles, a family bike area for little ones to practice, a lovely cafe at The Cavendish Pavilion, tea rooms at Strid Wood and plenty of swimming to be had in warmer months at The Priory.

Over the border you can spend a day in Clitheroe, with a trip to the castle, a play in the playground and then a bite to eat at Holmes Mill.

If you’re a family who loves the outdoors, take a walk along the Pennine Way or cycle some of the Tour De Yorkshire route.
