The hostel was a great place to stay with my sister and her family last weekend. It’s in a quiet corner of the town but in walking distance of the... read more centre, with footpath access to nearby waterfall and park (and beyond) through the wildlife garden. For drinkers there’s a really good pub just down the road (and a new microbrewery tap near the Co-op about 10 minutes walk away), and there’s a good pub nearby (the Punch Bowl) for food if you want to go out to eat.
The hostel was very clean and had everything we needed in the kitchen (including a shelf of free food and condiments – useful if you’ve forgotten something vital) and bottles of shampoo, shower gel and cleaning products for the shower rooms and toilets. My niece and nephew loved the family ‘treehouse’ bedroom with the climbing wall and sliding shutters, and the bunk beds in the room we stayed in were comfortable with individual reading lights, washbasin and small storage lockers for valuables.
The lounge was cosy and homely, with sofas, armchairs, a large coffee table (great for games) and a small table and chair for children. The children loved the funky swivelling seat in the small sun lounge. There were also lots of games and magazines available. There is a large dining room as well as tables in the room outside the kitchen. Matt was very responsive when contacted and we appreciated him leaving us logs for the log burner which increased the cosiness of the lounge, although the heating throughout the hostel was also good. We will definitely consider staying again at some point in the future .
